Module 4...

In this module, we will begin the process of looking at how students can apply their Internet skills to research health and medical information that is important to them personally or professionally.

Performance Objectives

1. Be able to think of a specific need that you would have for health research on the Internet.

2. Experiment with several of the search techniques that we have covered earlier to find out what information is available for the topic you are most interested in.

Activities

1. Read and work through at least five case studies in the Materials section. Determine the best course of action for those individuals to follow. Be sure to include as many search techniques as possible such as: mailing lists, newsgroups, subject trees, ask an expert, etc. Include at least five Internet sites (name and URL's) that would help each individual find information about their condition or need.

2. Compare and contrast the search techniques that you used to complete the case studies. Usually you will find that some search techniques are very effective while others are almost useless for certain searches.

3. Create your own case study based on a topic that you are interested in. Go through the steps above to find as many effective answers to the problem as possible. Include this in your essay.

4. Completion- Let me know when you are done with the essay and if you have any questions related to what you have covered in this online course.

(Congratulations, you finished the course!)
