Assignment 4 for SOSC 5: Using Pico

Fall 1998, Chico State University

Edit your .plan file by logging onto Rocko, and at the Rocko prompt type
the following:

pico .plan

When you type pico .plan, you call up an editor, pico, to edit a file
named .plan. Pico is the same editor that you use when you are typing
messages in Pine mail, and it is the editor that you will use when you
start your web page.

Note that there is a menu at the bottom of the screen, and that ^ =
control key. For example, to write out (or save) a file, hold down the
control key and then depress the letter o.

In order to complete this assignment, type in the message that you would
like for people to see when they finger your username. Use ^x to get out
of Pico and get back to the Rocko prompt. Be sure that you respond with y
when it asks if you want to save your file. Just hit enter when it asks if
you want to save it as .plan

If you want to see what you have in your .plan file, after you get out of
pico (but before you log out) type the following:

finger jsmith

where jsmith = your Rocko login name.
