Four Year California Promise Pledge

The Chico State California Promise

Beginning in fall 2018, the four year pledge program is for first-time students in one of the following majors:

  • Agricultural Business
  • Business Administration (all options) *added Fall 2020
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • English (all options)

California Promise Benefits

Students in these majors who choose to participate in the program will receive a variety of benefits including:

  • Tailored Academic Advising
  • Priority Course Registration Appointments
  • Guaranteed graduation in no more than four years

California Promise Student Conditions

Students who choose to participate in the program must meet the following conditions:

  • Be a California resident and meet one of the following three conditions:
    • be a low-income student
    • be a graduate from a high school located in a community that is underrepresented in college attendance
    • be a first-generation college student
  • Enroll in classes during the established priority registration period and pay fees by the required deadlines
  • Complete 30 degree applicable units each academic year (may include winter and summer sessions)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA each term (including winter and summer sessions)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.00 major GPA
  • Meet with the California Promise advisor in Academic Advising Programs
  • Meet with a faculty major advisor
  • Complete a four-year educational plan using Degree Planner within the Student Center

California Promise Applications

Eligible students can indicate interest on their admissions application. Students will be required to submit a California Promise Pledge Form.

Statement of your interest does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Depending on volume of interest, space in the program may be limited.
