Telling Our Stories

Our Communications team brings Chico State’s story to life through clear, engaging, and purposeful storytelling. From marketing campaigns and University publications to news features and digital content, our content producers collaborate across campus to highlight the people, programs, and experiences that define Chico State.

Through research, interviews, and thoughtful editing, we help shape content that informs, inspires, and connects with our audiences. We also partner with campus communicators to develop strategic communication plans, refine messaging, and create content that reaches the right audiences—ensuring every story reflects the impact of a Chico State education.

Campus Editing

Campus editing is a free service provided by University Communications (UCOMM) to any University representative communicating in print or online. We do a light edit of publications and ensure the text is in University Writing Style and the visual elements reflect the Chico State identity, often including suggestions to improve content and design. We also look for any spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors that may occur.

It is important for all campus publications to communicate both program distinctiveness and institutional cohesion by using consistent language and visual elements. Additionally, EM 02-96 requires that all publications intended for off-campus audiences or wide distribution on campus be reviewed by UCOMM.

To request proofreading or editing services, please submit a campus editing ticket. Items are edited in the order received and can take up to five business days for turnaround. Please inform us about any deadlines you have and whether you would like more substantial writing or design suggestions. It is required that project stakeholders do a final proofreading prior to publication.

For more information or questions, call University Communications at x4143 or email Clayton Truscott, publications editor at ctruscott@csuchico.edu.
