Projects

International Training Programs (ITP) implements short-term study and professional development programs in collaboration with both private and government funders. Each program is individually designed to meet the needs of its participants. Professionals from California State University, Chico and selected experts from Northern California offer a rigorous academic experience through seminars and workshops. Site visits throughout the country provide keen insights into programs and institutions in America.

Not only do participants from around the world benefit from these programs, but the university faculty, students, and local community, especially schools and citizens who host, learn from each other and extend the meaning of friendship.

Current Projects

During 2026, ITP will host four separate groups – Study of the United States Institutes for Secondary Educators (SUSI), Bolashak Program, Shinshu University Program, and (planned) Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement.

SUSI

Bolashak

The Bolashak program, of Kazakhstan, provides funding for high-performing individuals to refine their academic and professional skills. Six professionals (three medical doctors, a school principal, and two teachers) are on campus from August 2025 to February 2027, embedded in the academic, professional and social communities of Chico.

Shinshu

A program is in development for students from Shinshu University to join a campus-based program during September of 2026. The group will work closely with faculty and students in the College of Agriculture.

Fulbright TEA

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (Fulbright TEA) program is also planned for January through March 2027. This program would include 25 participants from various regions of the world for training in education topics and Northern California site visits.

Past Projects

More than 100 programs over more than three decades, serving more than 2,000 people, demonstrate the ability of ITP to consistently provide quality programs. Scholars continue to recognize the value of past participation while applying the experiences in their home countries. Multiple sources have recognized these successes by continuing to fund these valuable programs.
