A Message from President Steve Perez

President Steve Perez gives thumbs up with Willie the Wildcat mascot

As we plan for Chico State’s future, we want strong alignment around what makes us extraordinary, what makes us unique, and what makes us strong. With this consensus, we will make thoughtful decisions and overcome our challenges. We have several initiatives to support us as we make this vision a reality.

In December 2024, campus completed work on a new strategic plan, the Chico State Playbook, which will guide the University into the future with clarity and purpose. The Playbook will serve as a guide for institutional decisions both in the day-to-day and to carry us forward in the long term. We also established Community Agreements, which identify and reflect our core values and provide a framework to enhance our commitment to an inclusive work and learning environment. And, in an effort to enhance our workplace and the experiences of all employees, faculty and staff participated in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For Survey. The results identified areas of strength and areas where we need to improve to meet the needs of both students and employees.

I hope you will join me and your colleagues in embracing these important initiatives, which will propel Chico State forward while enhancing our day-to-day experiences, ensuring long-term success for the entire community and promoting greater good.
