April 24, 2025 - 2025-26 Budget Call
Dear Campus Community,
I’ve had several touchpoints with the campus this semester to share our challenging budget forecast and the work underway to address it. I’d like to express my appreciation to our University Financial Services team and University Budget Committee, who have been instrumental in the significant work it takes to forecast and plan for the foreseeable future. As promised, I’m releasing the “budget call” for campus today, which has already been distributed to division vice presidents. Over the next two months, each member of Cabinet will work with their respective units to develop plans and projections.
As a reminder, the Chico State budget process webpage continues to be a source of information. We also have a budget planning page on the President’s website, where I speak more directly to the context of how we got here, what we are doing to move forward, and what our campus community can do to support our budget endeavors.
Yes, we have a lot of work to do to close the projected shortfall. Thankfully, using both our reserves and the hard work of this campus community, I am confident that together we can move forward in ways that ensure fiscal sustainability for this institution as well as our commitment to support students, our community, and the North State. I am grateful to each and every one of you for all you do to support these goals.
