May 2, 2025 - Appointment of Jamie Clyde as Vice President for Business and Finance

Dear Campus Community,

I’m pleased to share that Jamie Clyde has been appointed as the permanent Vice President for Business and Finance at Chico State, effective May 1. Following a strong recommendation from the Search Committee, the removal of her interim designation was finalized in March.

Jamie has served in the interim role since April 2023 and has brought steady leadership, thoughtful innovation, and strategic clarity to our fiscal operations during a time of ongoing challenge and opportunity. Her background spans more than 20 years of leadership experience across finance, facilities, human resources, risk management, procurement, and business operations.

In the past two years, Jamie has helped lead numerous high-impact initiatives, including the launch of CSUBUY, the development of the new Behavioral and Social Sciences building, and the implementation of a new budgeting process. She also has overseen major audit processes and enacted systemwide recommendations aligned with the Cozen report. Additionally, Jamie has served as Executive Director of the Associated Students for the past 5 years, a role she will continue to hold. Her commitment to employing, empowering, and engaging Wildcats has been an inspiration, and the connection between her two leadership positions will further strengthen how we serve our students and campus community.

Prior to becoming executive director, Jamie served as associate executive director from 2015 to 2020. Beyond Chico State, her background includes over seven years in hotel and restaurant management and five years as adjunct faculty in hospitality at College of the Redwoods. She is a proud Wildcat, having earned bachelor’s degrees in speech communication and education from Chico State, and an MBA from Colorado State University.

The Search Committee’s decision was both thoughtful and enthusiastic—a reflection of Jamie’s demonstrated success and respected influence across campus. I want to thank Chair Jinsong Zhang and all members of the committee for their commitment to a thorough and inclusive process. I also want to acknowledge the value of the process itself. After an earlier search to fill the position was unsuccessful, we began again—this time with Jamie participating in the same process as previous candidates. This approach allowed her to formally express her interest and qualifications, invited the campus community to provide feedback, and ultimately brought transparency and legitimacy to the appointment.

Please join me in congratulating Jamie. We are fortunate to benefit from her continued leadership and deep commitment to Chico State’s mission and future.

Thank you,
Steve Perez
