October 7, 2024 – Expanded Support Resources for Week of October 7
Dear Campus Community,
I want to echo the sentiments shared by Chancellor Mildred García this morning in her message to campus. Today, we solemnly mark the anniversary of the tragic events of October 7 in the Middle East and the ongoing conflict, which continues to deeply affect our students, employees, and the community.
Though it has been often emotionally challenging, I am proud and grateful for how we have consistently been there for each other over the last year, even in moments of disagreement. It is important we share our thoughts passionately and listen with care and respect. Most of all, we must continue to wholeheartedly support each other.
For employees in need of assistance this week, the Employee Assistance Program is available 24/7 by calling 1-800-357-7474 (company code: csuchico).
If you encounter students who are in need of extra support, the WellCat Counseling Center will offer drop-in hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, the WellCat Health Center will provide mental health drop-in support on Wednesday from 2–4 p.m. On Thursday, drop-in counseling will also be available at the MESA Engineering Program from 10 a.m. to noon in O’Connell Technology Center, Room 114.
I continue to be humbled by the respect and empathy our campus community has shown to one another. As we move through what will likely be an emotional time, please remember to be gentle with yourself and continue to treat each other with patience and compassion.
Thank you,
Steve Perez
