December 5, 2025 - Passing of Biological Sciences Major Alexandra Wynter
Dear campus community,
It’s with deep sadness I share the news that biological sciences major Alexandra Wynter was killed recently in an incident in Chico that police believe is connected to domestic violence. Our deepest condolences and sympathies go out to her friends and family members. The loss of one of our own is a tragedy, and we share in their sorrow.
Alexandra first became a member of our campus community in fall 2016 and was poised to graduate this spring. She returned to Chico State while working at Enloe Health and her faculty describe her as personable, engaged, and serious about her studies. During her time in Chico, she served as the community connections director for Community Action Volunteers in Education, was a member of the Black Student Union, and volunteered extensively throughout the community.
“She was a brilliant and driven student. When I saw her in class and looked in her direction, I always saw an interested and friendly face,” said Professor Nicole Kilian, who taught Alexandra in her “Hematology” course this semester. “In fact, on the first exam of the semester she scored over 100 percent, but discovered that Dr. Dubie and I had mistakenly given her three extra points. She came back and let us know because she thought it was the right thing to do. She had such incredible integrity.”

You can also make a report through our website. Campus advocates can accompany you through all reporting and support options.

Care and compassion for each other are part of what makes Chico State such a wonderful place. As we process this incredibly sad news, please take care of yourselves and check in on your friends, colleagues, and peers.
Thank you for all you do support each other,
