This page is maintained as an archive of that work.

GI 2025 Advisory Team Charge

The Chico Graduation Initiative Advisory Team coordinates and advances campus efforts to serve students in making timely progress to a high-quality, meaningful undergraduate degree. We do this through intentional and data-driven efforts to improve learning environments and to identify and remove barriers to student success.

The Graduation Initiative Advisory Team is responsible for:

  • Tracking campus progress in achieving first-time freshmen 4- and 6-year graduation targets and transfer 2- and 4-year graduation targets and eliminating the graduation gap between historically underserved students (first-generation, low-income, and students of color) and their better-resourced counterparts.
  • Establishing annual data-informed strategic priorities and working in cross-campus collaboration to achieve them.
  • Allocating available campus Graduation Initiative funds through a goal-driven and transparent process.
  • Engaging with campus stakeholders and reporting regularly on Graduation Initiative activities and progress.

Providing required reports on Graduation Initiative activities and progress to the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

Launched in 2021, the Advancing Equity Project (AEP) was a university-wide initiative designed to close equity gaps and expand opportunity, especially for students who have been historically underserved, including those who are:

  • low-income
  • first-generation
  • from Latinx, African American, and Native American communities

This work was active, intentional, and grounded in data. Faculty and staff across campus collaborated through Action and Inquiry Teams to test new ideas, scale what worked, and create lasting change. Backed by university leadership and aligned with CSU priorities, the AEP drove measurable progress and several of its initiatives have since been institutionalized as permanent university programs.

Guiding Principles

Four shared principles will guide the work of Action and Inquiry Teams:

  • 1

Be guided by both data and consultation with advocates for and representatives of Latinx, African American, Native American, low-income, and first-generation student populations.

  • 2

    Use a cultural asset framework.

  • 3

Build a sense of belonging into all strategies.

  • 4

Cultivate a mentoring mindset for all employees.
