Our Story

North State Planning and Development Collective Logo

The North State Planning and Development Collective formed in 2018 to represent the collaborative interactions between what was once the Center for Economic Development and the Geographic Information Center. From humble beginnings as geographic data and economic development centers beginning in the 1980s, the Collective has grown into a multi-faceted and renowned organization working with and across the University’s 12-county service region to bolster the North State’s economic vitality and support students toward purposeful careers and the enrichment of our communities.

  • Our Projects

We collaborate on projects big and small. From agriculture to education, and workforce development to broadband, we're committed to collaborating with University staff and beyond to support the economic vitality of the region and enhancing the communities we serve.

  • Connect with Us

We're convening decision-makers across the North State for impactful events that drive the region forward. Our Economic Forecast Conference has been a staple for our region for a quarter-century, and we offset it year-round with workshops and trainings.
