Whether you’re scheduling your first appointment or thinking about switching majors, we’ve got answers. These common questions can help you understand what to expect—and who to talk to.
Your academic advisor is based upon your program declarations. You will have an advisor for each program (major, minor, certificate, credential, etc.) that you declare. Your advisor is typically assigned and listed in your Student Center. Check the Program Advisor Directory to find your major advisor.

Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor at least once per semester, prior to registering for their next semester. However, you are welcome to meet with advisors more frequently if you have additional support needs.
Yes, most students will work with a variety of advisors during their time at Chico State as each advisor specializes in advising for specific programs and/or policies. You should seek advising from your major advisor first, as your major courses will typically take priority in your scheduling and planning. Students should then follow up with an advisor who specializes in General Education (GE) as needed.
