Housed within the new Agricultural Education Center, the Jay Gilbert Farm Store bridges classroom learning with real-world experience in retail operations, merchandising, and community engagement. It’s a living lab where students gain professional skills while sharing the bounty of the University Farm with the North State community.

Regular Hours
Tuesday – Thursday: 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Farm Store will be Open on January 13, 2026 and will resume regular business hours.

Special Events: Extended hours during workshops, community days, and seasonal celebrations. Follow our social channels for updates.

What You’ll Find

The Jay Gilbert Farm Store features products that are almost exclusively student-grown, student-made, and student-managed, highlighting the diversity of Chico State’s agricultural programs. We have also chosen to include a few items from locally sourced products from Chico State College of Agriculture alumni.

  • Cheese from the Dairy Unit was available as the new Agricultural Education Center and Jay Gilbert Farm Store officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony

    Cheese and Butter

    Our white organic aged cheddar and smoked white cheddar cheeses — along with our organic butter — are crafted in collaboration with Sierra Nevada Cheese Company using milk produced by our organic dairy herd at the University Farm. A jalapeño jack cheese variety is coming soon!

  • Meats from the Meats Lab were available as the new Agricultural Education Center and Jay Gilbert Farm Store

    Meats

    Beef, pork, lamb, and sausage are processed by students in the University Farm USDA-inspected Meats Lab, providing hands-on experience in animal science, food safety, and quality control. The University Farm Meats Lab remains open Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and its best-selling products are featured in the Jay Gilbert Farm Store all week long for your convenience.

  • Vegetables from the Organic Vegetable Unit were available as the new Agricultural Education Center and Jay Gilbert Farm Store officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony

    Organic Produce

    Seasonal, certified-organic fruits and vegetables grown and harvested by students in the Organic Vegetable Unit. Note: The Organic Vegetable Unit stand will no longer operate one day a week. Instead, all products will now be available exclusively in the Jay Gilbert Farm Store for your convenience.

    Plants and Fresh-Cut Flowers

    Beautiful, seasonal offerings (plants, succulents, cacti, flowers, etc.) produced through our Greenhouse Unit.

    Sweet corn and melons (seasonal favorites), honey, pumpkins, cut flowers, and other limited-edition farm products throughout the year from our Crops & Orchards Unit.
