The first facility to incorporate digital cinema technology into anthropological research and the communication of the results of that research to broad audiences.
Providing expert forensic anthropology services to local, state, federal, and international law enforcement, medical examiners, and attorneys.
As one of the few university museums in the nation where students gain practical experience, the museum serves as both an educational resource and a public destination for cultural discovery.
Provides training in archaeological fieldwork, artifact analysis, curation, and cultural resource management.
Students gain professional experience by working on contracts with agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and California State Parks. Facilities include the Archaeology Laboratory, Curation Facility, and Zooarchaeology Laboratory with over 1,500 skeletons for comparative analysis.
Professionals rely on ARP for cultural resource management services including site surveys, mitigation, and compliance with NEPA and CEQA. The program’s professional staff meet the Secretary of the Interior’s qualifications for archaeologists.

A flexible research and meeting space supporting seminars, workshops, student organizations, and faculty projects.
Students use the laboratory for video editing, statistical analysis with ArcGIS and SPSS, and collaborative projects. It also hosts thesis defenses, student group meetings, and faculty-student research collaborations.
Community members may attend film screenings, guest lectures, and exhibitions hosted in this space, strengthening ties between campus and the public.

Specializes in the conservation of archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from both land and underwater contexts.
Students in the Conservation of Archaeological and Ethnographic Resources course (ANTH 465) learn professional conservation techniques using XRF, microscopy, and digital X-ray.
Professionals, including government agencies and museums, contract the laboratory for conservation services. Past clients include NOAA, the National Parks Service, and the U.S. Navy.
