The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program offers a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a Speech-Language Services credential.
The Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CMSD) offers a curriculum grounded in the scientific foundations of speech, language, and hearing, guiding students to explore the biological, neurological, and cultural influences on communication and the disorders that can arise across the life span. Students examine the causes and characteristics of communication challenges as well as methods for assessment and intervention.
CMSD graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in healthcare, education and research settings, or to pursue advanced study in speech-language pathology, audiology, and related fields.
The Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders features a cohort-based model that fosters collaboration and support while guiding students through structured, sequential coursework in speech, language, and swallowing sciences. In addition to attending rigorous academic seminars, students engage in diagnostic and clinical practice through practicum placements in the on-campus Clinic for Communication Disorders, and community locations.
Graduates emerge equipped to pursue state licensure, national certification, and the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential, and to apply their skills in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and private practice.
