School of Media, Entertainment, Technology, and Immersive Experiences

METX is an interdisciplinary program at Chico State that includes majors from computer animation and game development, journalism and public relations, and media arts, design and technology.

Offers students interdisciplinary opportunities to develop creative narrative and storytelling skills. Students explore and discover interests, passions, and communication strategies by blending journalism, game development, animation, video, audio and photography. The School provides a dynamic environment to foster collaboration and connection by creating a community of innovative storytellers.

    Computer Animation and Game Development

    Integrate creativity and technology combining technical skills, industry-standard software, and artistic concepts. This program prepares students to design and implement video games, animations, and interactive experiences that communicate, inform, and entertain.

    Develop the skills to craft compelling stories and manage media relationships, preparing you for dynamic roles in media, corporate communications, and brand management.

    Media Arts, Design, and Technology

    Learn how to create and produce engaging stories in a variety of media formats and critically examine how screen communication impacts our lives. Create motion graphics, learn screenwriting, and take courses in sound design and visual effects.

    Chico State Game Studios

    Student video games are shared with production & design blogs, as well as being available for download and play. The page serves as a portfolio platform where visitors can explore the creativity and technical skills of student design, 3D modeling, concept art, and animation for video games.

    Computer Graphics Club

    The Computer Graphics Club is the student-run club associated with CAGD. The club fosters a student community centered on animation and game discussions, activities, meetings, workshops, events, and engagement with peers and alumni.
