Concrete Industry Management Scholarship Program
Thanks to the commitment of the National Steering Committee and the generous support of our local Chico State CIM Patrons, every CIM student has been eligible for annual scholarships. Over the past 20 years, our donors have contributed nearly $500,000 to help advance the concrete industry by investing in the education and development of its future leaders.
Apply to the CIM-Performance, Foundation, Discretionary Scholarship
General Eligibility Requirements: the following requirements apply to all scholarship opportunities. Additional eligibility requirements may apply.
- Student must be declared as a Concrete Industry Management Major
- Student must possess full-time academic enrollment and enrollment in at least two CIM-related lower or upper division courses.
- Student must hold a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at Chico State
- Submission of a personal statement demonstrating commitment to the CIM program
- If receiving the scholarship impacts federal aid disbursement, the award amount will be adjusted accordingly.
The Foundations Scholarship
This scholarship provides vital financial support to incoming students enrolled in the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program during their first year. The scholarship allows students to focus on their academic success and professional development from the outset. It is specifically designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the program, while easing the financial burden of tuition and associated college expenses.
Foundation Scholarship Details
- Yearly Award Amount: $1,500 per student
- Application Period: Fall Semester
- Eligibility: General eligibility requirements apply. (First time Students- GPA applicable in second semester)
- Transition: Students become eligible for the Tiered Performance Scholarship starting in their second year based on their first year GPA. Applicant’s GPA eligibility will be reviewed each semester.
The Performance Scholarship
This scholarship offers financial support based on academic performance, encouraging students to excel within the CIM program. This scholarship serves as a motivator for students to remain actively engaged in both academics and extracurricular involvement, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This ensures that recipients are not only excelling in their coursework but also contributing to the growth and advancement of the CIM program.
Performance Scholarship Details
- Yearly Award Amount: Tiered System
- Tier 1 (High Achievement): $4,000 per year for students with a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or higher.
- Tier 2 (Merit Achievement): $2,500 per year for students with a cumulative GPA between 3.25 and 3.64.
- Tier 3 (Encouragement Award): $1,500 per year for students with a cumulative GPA between 2.9 and 3.24.
- Application Period: Fall Semester
- Award Period: Fall/Spring; eligibility renewal in Spring
- Eligibility: General eligibility requirements apply. Additionally, students must be engaged with CIM extracurricular opportunities
The Discretionary Scholarship
A discretionary scholarship fund will provide targeted financial support for students who may not meet the GPA criteria for the performance scholarship but demonstrate commitment to the CIM program or face financial hardship. Additional eligibility requirements apply. This exists for students who are NOT eligible for the performance scholarship (GPA.) Awardees will be decided by scholarship committee.
Discretionary Scholarship Details
- Award Amount: $1,500 Per year
- Application Period: Fall Semester
- Additional Eligibility Criteria:
- Evaluation based on need and commitment to the program.
- Students will be required to meet with the Program Director and Academic Advising to create a structured progress plan.
- Available to all CIM students, with priority given to those who do not qualify for the tiered scholarships.
- Students are only eligible for a discretionary scholarship once.
Gonsalves Award for Academic Excellence
In recognition of the Gonsalves Family’s unwavering support for the Concrete Industry Management program and its broader commitment to the advancement of the concrete industry, up to two outstanding students will be selected annually to receive the Gonsalves Award for Academic Excellence. This prestigious award will be granted to students who exemplify exceptional dedication to the mission of the CIM program through active involvement in student organizations, campus initiatives, and meaningful engagement with industry partners. Recipients must demonstrate strong leadership, professionalism, and a sustained commitment to promoting the growth, innovation, and visibility of both the CIM program and concrete industry overall.

Gonsalves Award for Academic Excellence Details
- Yearly Award Amount: $10,000
- Application Period: Fall Semester
- Award Period: Academic Year (Fall/Spring)
- Additional Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75.
- Completion of at least one internship and ACI Field Testing Technician Certification
- Active membership in CIM affiliated clubs and competition teams demonstrating leadership and mentorship to developing students
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting and expanding the CIM program on campus. Contribution to recruitment efforts, mentorship programs, and student outreach initiatives.
- Participation in industry events and networking opportunities and involvement in hands-on projects and research related to the concrete industry.
- Submit a one-page personal statement describing how their involvement advances the CIM program including the following:
- Specific actions taken to advance the CIM program.
- Reflections on personal growth through leadership, industry engagement, and CIM service.
- Future aspirations within the concrete industry.
- Two letters of recommendation are required:
- One from a CIM faculty member, addressing academic performance and program leadership.
- One from an industry sponsor or internship supervisor, highlighting professionalism, initiative, and contributions during the internship.
