Stockton-Locke Field Trip Sept 28, 2024
History Club
Open to all who wish to join, majors and non-majors alike.
The History Club offers students the opportunity to engage with history beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, activities include book talks, a careers forum, trivia nights, movie screenings, and field trips. Trips are planned based on historical interest and available funding.
Past excursions have included tours of the New Clairvaux Monastery in Vina, Sutter’s Fort, the Emigrant Museum and Donner Summit, as well as San Francisco’s Chinatown and Russian Hill.
The History Club is a great way to connect with others who are eager to discuss, learn, and contribute to the ongoing study of history.

2025 California Northern Regional Conference, Sacramento State University
Phi Alpha Theta
For students majoring in History.
Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) is a national history honor society. Alpha Delta Omicron is the Chico State chapter. Founded in May 1963 our chapter is one of the earliest established chapters in California.
As a member of Phi Alpha Theta (PAT), you have an opportunity to participate in an annual regional conference where students:
- present original work
- research or be a part of discussion panels, and
- compete for awards against other history students across Northern California.
Chico State last hosted the Northern California Regional Conference of Phi Alpha Theta in April 2014.
PAT members also have an opportunity to participate in the production of The Chico Historian, an annual journal that showcases student research developed through coursework at Chico State.
Joining Phi Alpha Theta recognizes your dedication to history while connecting you with a community of students who are passionate about learning, research, and sharing the past.
