About the Auditions
We will be holding our auditions in in Arts 108, on Sunday 8/25 (returning majors) and Monday 8/26 (new students and non-majors).
If you’d like to be considered for the musical (Next to Normal) and the play (The Crucible):
- please do a song, any style. Next to Normal, with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize,Next to Normal was also chosen as "one of the year's ten best shows" by critics around the country, including The Los AngelesTimes, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times.
- AND prepare one Post-Modern monologue (1945-65) with a strong point of focus and a character that is fighting for something (avoid too much exposition and storytelling). You do not have to use anything from the play or from other works by Arthur Miller. Contemporary monologues (2000-present) are fine but be sure you're able to have articulate diction and be able to project. Fill the space, be bold, fight for something.
If you are only interested in the being considered for the play:
- you only need to prepare the monologue as listed above.
The audition should total no more than two minutes regardless of which option you select.
- Audition form must be received by 11:59pm August 24th.
- Note that this is the Saturday BEFORE school begins.
