About the Auditions

We will be holding our play and musical auditions in the Wismer Theatre, on Sunday 8/23 (all current majors) and Monday 8/24 (all new and non-majors). Please sign up for ONE time block below. Please arrive 15 minutes before your time, prepared, and warmed up. 

35MM callbacks will be held on Tuesday 8/25 from 6pm to 10pm. THANKSGIVING PLAY callbacks will be held on Wednesday 8/26 from 6pm to 10pm. Thursday 8/27 callbacks are TBD. 

You are given a strict 2-minute audition time. If you wish to be considered for the musical, or both shows, you must sing and perform a monologue. If you only wish to be considered for the play, you may do just the monologue. 

35MM: A Musical Exhibition

Seeking strong actor-singers for 35MM: A Musical Exhibition. All roles are open, and performers of all gender identities and expressions are encouraged to audition.

Please prepare a contemporary musical theatre selection that demonstrates strong musicianship and theatrical storytelling. Choose material that showcases your ability to navigate challenging vocals while remaining grounded in the acting.

Most, if not all, roles will be double cast.

Please note: 35MM contains mature themes and language. Auditioners should be comfortable performing material intended for mature audiences.

Thanksgiving Play

Please prepare one 60-90 second contemporary comedic monologue. Please be well prepared and confident in your monologue- the characters in this play are ignorant, awkward, kinda stupid BUT they do it boldly, and bravely. This play will have two casts of four and all 8 actors will be performing each night alternating between the ensemble and the main cast. Please read the play and be familiar with its subject matter. All roles will be open to all/any who audition (gender identity/ethnicity).

  • Thursday August 20th 11:59 p.m. - Audition form deadline
  • Sunday August 23rd 6-10 p.m.- all returning majors audition
  • Monday August 24th 6-9 p.m. - new and non-majors audition 
  • Tuesday August 25th 6-10 p.m. - 35 MM callbacks
  • Wednesday August 26th 6-10 p.m. - Thanksgiving Play callbacks
  • Thursday August 27th 6-10 p.m. – Callbacks TBD
  • Friday August 28th – Cast Lists Posted

Advising

It is important for registered students to continually monitor their Chico State WildCat email accounts for advising assignments and announcements sent from the department office. Students can check their advisor assignment by emailing the department advisor listed in the student center.
