Mathematics and Statistics Department

The primary mission of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is to provide high-quality mathematics education and critical thinking skills to our diverse student population. We provide leadership, expertise, and service regarding applied and pure mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, and data science to the College, the University, the surrounding communities and throughout California. Finally, as a community of scholars, the department contributes to expanding the corpus of knowledge of mathematics and statistics.

    Faculty in the Mathematics and Statistics Department pursue a wide range of research across pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, and mathematics education.

    Math Colloquia

    Colloquia are typically held on Friday in Holt 175. Refreshments are served at 3:45 pm and the talk begins at 4:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend!

    Math Learning Lab (MLL)

    The Math Learning Lab offers free drop-in tutoring, course-specific support, and study resources to help students practice math, work through assignments, and build problem-solving skills.

    Research Experience Program REU/RET

    A program that provides the opportunity for 8 undergraduates and 2 teachers to work on mathematics research with faculty mentors during a 7-week residential summer program at California State University, Chico.
