Our minor in African American studies explores important aspects of Black history, society, politics, literature, religion, and culture to better understand the African American experience. You will study various topics, including the impact of Africa's history and the African diaspora in the United States.

Our program encourages you to think critically about race and ethnicity, focusing on the experiences of Black and African American individuals. You'll also examine how society affects African Americans, considering issues such as gender, sexuality, racism, poverty, and their current social and economic situation.
