If you love agriculture or are interested in the industry that feeds the world, this is the minor for you. You’ll cover all facets of ag, from technology and business to animal and plant science, with the chance to take your studies hands on at the University Farm.

With both classes and labs, you’ll gain the tools and knowledge to support a variety of careers—a priceless background in a state that produces nearly half of the nation’s fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other food products.

The Roots of Agriculture

Start with ag business and financial accounting courses, and take your pick of classes focused on animal, plant, and social science. Then dig deeper into specialized topics such as food safety, pests and diseases, climate change, and emerging technologies.

Grow Your Skills

Our program builds strengths for students who want a foundational understanding in food production and farming—even if your primary major is not directly related to agriculture.

Pick Your Passion

Choose from over a dozen student clubs and organizations devoted to all aspects of agriculture. Represent Chico State at national competitions on our livestock judging team, join the Alpha Gamma Rho or Alpha Zeta professional societies, or participate in the Society of Agricultural Managers, to name a few.
