From agriculture to healthcare to zoology, the ability to gather and make sense of data has become one of the highest in-demand skillsets across most industries and disciplines. In our minor in applied statistics, you’ll gain an essential overview of statistics and data analysis and learn cutting-edge methods for conducting research.
In small, discussion-based classes, you’ll gain valuable knowledge from real-world case studies and research assignments. Whether you’re looking to graduate into a new job or grad school, you’ll be ready to take your next exciting step.
Once you’ve completed an introduction to statistics and statistical methods, you can focus on the areas of applied statistics that appeal to your career goals. Consider business analytics, agricultural policy, marketing, education, and the environment.

In addition to the unique skillset you’ll acquire in this minor, you’ll learn important soft skills that complement your professional resume. This includes communication and presentation skills, research and collaboration, and leadership.
A minor in applied statistics is a great addition to any degree, even those with minimal math, but is particularly useful if you’re interested in business, science and research, and biological sciences.
