Our comprehensive curriculum explores business principles—covering courses in law, communications, and mathematics—while also offering specialization through seven different options: accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources management, management, marketing, and project management.

Specializations and Options

As a business administration student, you can customize your education by choosing one of our seven pathways to better align with your career goals.

All businesses need accountants to keep track of their finances, and you can choose to work in public or corporate accounting. This path prepares you to take the national CPA exam.

Start a business, oversee a startup, or lead teams. You can use your skills and knowledge to run a variety of businesses and be ready to take on leadership roles in any organization you join.

Launch a successful career with unlimited paths and opportunities for growth, including in investment brokerage, insurance brokerage, and banking. Within these industries, you can pursue careers in investment analysis, risk, or real estate finance.

Shape the future of an organization by recruiting and retaining talented employees. Learn how to create and maintain a positive work environment and communicate and implement policies.

Become a productive leader who can manage the complexities of a 21st century organization. From systems dynamics analysis to corporate social responsibility and employment law, you can pursue a variety of career paths.

Explore how consumer and market behavior; understand how to collect, analyze, and summarize data; and learn professional sales and customer relations skills. This option prepares students for careers in advertising, brand management, sales, and retail.

Help manage projects from start to finish. Tackle everything from budgeting and scheduling to risk management and more to deliver results on time and on budget. Our courses are designed so you can pursue the Project Management Institute Certification.

    Seufferlein Sales Program

    Sharpen your skills through sales simulations and compete nationally in our award-winning Seufferlein Sales Program. Our program consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally and is one of only two collegiate programs in California accredited by the University Sales Center Alliance.

    Accelerator Fund

    We are one of the few universities in the country to provide startup funds for students in the process of starting a business. These funds range from $2,500 to $5,500 and are available to all registered Chico State students.

Gain experience managing a real-money portfolio through the Student Management Investment Fund using the Bloomberg Terminal in our FinTech Lab, an investment research workroom designed to provide our students with cutting-edge software and real-time trading observations. Our college also has a dedicated Sales Lab to prep for competitions.
