In this STEM-designated degree, you’ll develop the expertise to gather, interpret, and apply data-driven solutions to complex business challenges across industries with a deep understanding of business principles, algorithms, and data management. A STEM designation allows qualifying international students (F-1 visa) to be eligible for up to 36 months of employment authorization in the United States after graduation.

Both the Business Analytics MS and the MBA are powerful degrees that can launch your high-level business career, but they offer distinct paths:

Business Analytics MS

  • Dive deep into data analytics, emphasizing technical skills and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ideal for those passionate about uncovering insights and applying data to solve complex business challenges.

Business Administration MBA

  • Build a broad foundation in business leadership with a focus on marketing, strategy, and operations.
  • We offer a General MBA (online or in-person) or specializations in Project Management (online or in-person), Business Analytics (STEM-designated; in-person only), or Health Services Administration (online only). For more information, click here.

Graduate students can qualify for traditional financial aid by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

Scholarship Opportunities

Chico State provides merit and scholarship awards to deserving students for graduate studies, and many go unfilled. Scholarships are provided based on a variety of criteria, including academic merit, financial need, participation in clubs and activities, volunteer and community involvement, major and career goals, etc.

Students without an undergraduate degree in business can take prerequisite coursework and modules to prepare for the business analytics program. These can be completed prior to applying to the program, prior to starting the program, or as you begin taking courses.

Our Business Analytics MS program is typically completed in 18-24 months. Faculty engage students with case studies, lectures, and project work to elevate your competitive edge for career advancement.
