Explore how engineers use computers to improve society by solving challenging problems and inventing the next technological breakthroughs. From smart watches to gaming systems to self-driving cars and energy generation, you’ll discover how computers are built and designed to help everyday parts of your life. Lead the way in discovering solutions for society’s next big challenges.
Our program—one of the first in the nation—offers an intimate learning environment where your professors are available to you. With an average of 33 students per class, you'll have plenty of opportunities to engage with them and your classmates.
Your courses in programming, electronic circuits, logic design, and digital systems feature individual and group projects that provide you with the foundational skills to excel in a wide range of industries, making you a key player in any company's success.
Design and develop new technologies for fields such as electronics, biomedicine, agriculture, and more. Computer engineering offers a competitive average starting salary of $90,250—significantly higher than those across all engineering disciplines. Our alumni are working at companies like Sandia National Labs, Cisco Systems, Cloudflare, and TJC and Associates.
Here are some careers you should consider:
Begin to apply your knowledge and practical skills as an undergraduate while working on your senior project or as a student researcher.
From improving VR gaming to creating a facial recognition robot, you'll get to display your acquired skills and innovation in the senior capstone project of your choice.
Work with supportive faculty to find your passion. You will have access to a peer mentor and receive help with homework and securing a paid summer undergraduate research opportunity.
The mentor-based program helps Latinx and low-income students find research opportunities. After the summer research program, students can take professional development workshops and get help with scholarships and graduate applications.
Join IEEE and the Society of Women Engineers to deepen your interest and gain leadership experience for your career. Or test your technical skills by joining the 3D Printing Club, Baja Club, Formula 1 SAE Club, or Grigora Avis (drones).
Our facilities offer access to the latest networking equipment and software, allowing you to explore and research topics in your courses, such as cybersecurity, high-performance computing, and linear circuits.
