Pursue your passion for justice and serving the community in our criminal justice program. Our minor provides a broad understanding of crime and justice-related issues from diverse perspectives. You will explore theories of social problems, the role of criminal justice agencies in society, and related ethical implications.
Gain hands-on experience working with faculty on articles, research, community justice projects,and more. You can also intern at Chico State's Community Legal Information Clinic (CLIC)—the most comprehensive and longest-running university-based legal clinic in the country. Our program's multidisciplinary approach will prepare you for a variety of justice-related careers or graduate school.
Gain a strong foundation in criminal justice while pursuing your interests through electives such as forensic science, restorative justice, corrections, or constitutional law. You will also learn in other disciplines, including anthropology and sociology, and get work experience through internships.
Our program emphasizes peer-to-peer learning in small, discussion-based classes where you are encouraged to ask critical questions about the major controversies within the discipline of criminal justice.

You’ll graduate with an understanding of the institutions involved in the administration of justice, which, paired with your major, will enhance your career possibilities. Our alumni have gone on to work for nonprofit organizations, law enforcement agencies, juvenile rehabilitation centers, and youth-oriented programs.
Join the Criminal Justice Student Association to get help launching your career through workshops, networking opportunities, and site visits. You can also get work experience at the University's student-run Community Legal Information Clinic, which offers free services to the community.
