Our Dual Multiple Subject and Education Specialist Program supports you in earning your special education and general education credential in just one year! With this sought-after specialization, you'll be well prepared to teach at-risk and special needs students, whether in a general education classroom or specialist educational setting.
Earn the qualifications to pursue a rewarding career teaching and supporting children and youth with disabilities. You'll be trained and equipped to provide calm, focused instruction and services, making an impact on the lives of learners who need champions.
Our dynamic program provides a combination of critical coursework and supervised teaching experiences in both general and special education settings, with classes on evidence-based interventions, special education laws and regulations, and strategies for teaching students with autism spectrum disorder and English language learners.
With unlimited career prospects in K–12 classrooms in public and private schools, special day classes, or alternative settings, the education world is at your fingertips.
You'll also be prepared to continue your education. Completing the Dual Multiple Subject and Education Specialist also satisfies approximately half of the requirements for an Education MA with a special education advising pattern option.

All prospective students must complete two different applications for our Teaching Credential Programs, through Cal State Apply and our Teaching Credential Application.
Fall: December–March 1
Admission into programs leading to a credential does not guarantee that students will obtain a credential. Credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., Social Security number or taxpayer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet credentialing requirements.
The Dual Multiple Subject and Education Specialist Credential program is designed as a two-semester (one year) program where you will complete required coursework and internship credits. Students who need to complete pre-requisite courses may need additional time to complete the program.
