Become an Education Champion

Our dynamic program combines critical coursework and supervised teaching experiences in both general and special education settings, with classes in curriculum design, inclusive teaching, behavior support, and instructional strategies. Learn how to adapt content and build positive learning environments for students of all abilities.

Careers That Make a Difference

With a Single Subject Credential, you'll be ready to teach middle and high school students in subjects like math, science, English, agriculture, or the arts. You'll help students build skills, confidence, and a love of learning. At the same time, your Education Specialist Credential prepares you to support students with mild to moderate disabilities in inclusive or specialized settings.

Graduates are in high demand across California, and many secure teaching positions before completing the program. You'll be equipped for roles as subject-area teachers, special education specialists, inclusion facilitators, and instructional leaders.

Your dual credential also opens doors beyond the classroom, including opportunities in curriculum design, educational consulting, and school leadership. The program sets you up for graduate study, giving you a head start toward a master's degree in education. Schools highly value your ability to create adaptable, inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of all students.

Admission into programs leading to a credential does not guarantee that students will obtain a credential. Credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU, and requirements can change at any time. For example, credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., Social Security number or taxpayer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet credentialing requirements.

The Dual Single Subject and Education Specialist Credential program is designed as a two-semester (one year) program where you will complete required coursework and internship credits. Students who need to complete pre-requisite courses may need additional time to complete the program.
