Ethical reasoning is an essential skill needed to address the planet’s most critical issues. As a student in the minor, you’ll learn to embrace and practice moral reflection in a range of important areas, from parenting, medicine, and the environment, to food production, politics, and scientific research.

Honing your ability to deconstruct messages and understand complex issues from multiple perspectives will make you a better communicator, employee, and researcher, and will serve you in any career or area of postgraduate studies.

Building Brave Curiosity

From the “Meaning of Life” to the “End of the World,” your classes will challenge you to consider the role of religion, politics, and capitalism in society. Housed in the Philosophy Department, a minor in ethics provides a network of deep-thinking, caring faculty who will encourage you to be curious and ask difficult questions.

Active Learning

With small class sizes, encouraging professors, weekly community events, and student clubs, you’ll have a unique opportunity to learn and practice your skills in a supportive environment.

A minor in ethics will build these skills:

  • Communication
  • Public speaking and presentations
  • Research
  • Speech writing
  • Text analysis
