Humanities is the study of human creativity and its cultural expressions around the world. Choose your specific areas of interest from subject matter such as culture, literature, art, history, and philosophy, to specific civilizations you want to know more about.
Then, take advantage of the small class sizes and get the student-centered faculty support you need to become an expert in your field. Explore the places and subjects you are most passionate about while blazing your own unique trail of knowledge.
You will enjoy an overview of cultural traditions from around the globe, focusing on the arts (such as literature, music, theatre, sculpture, painting, architecture), and ideas (like philosophy and religion). And then you can further explore the languages, key thinkers, and influential moments that interest you.
A degree in humanities prepares you to meet challenges and find solutions in a variety of highly sought-after careers in fields such as communications, education, business, advertising, publishing, and journalism. It can also set you up for success in further studies in law, medicine, and more.
Our expert and diverse faculty provide a depth of knowledge that’s hard to beat. They speak almost 20 languages between them and lead students on trips all over the globe—providing one of the many opportunities you’ll have to learn outside of the classroom.
Take an enlightening road trip to a Chinese Temple, Trappist Monastery, or majestic museum while bonding with your classmates. Or enjoy online trivia time, painting parties, and other events.
You’ll enjoy a diverse pool of peers from across the state and beyond to learn with, and you’ll celebrate your best work at our annual student symposium.
Engage firsthand with the culture of your choosing through our study abroad program. Dive deep into a country’s art, history, and philosophies while earning units toward your degree.
