Great teachers have the potential to inspire generations and turn curious students into lifelong learners. If you are compelled to share your love of learning with students in grades Pre-K to sixth, our Multiple Subject Credential program will help you develop and hone your ability to teach multiple subjects across grade levels, manage your classroom, and become a changemaker at school.
With guidance from faculty who share a lived experience as multiple-subject educators, you'll benefit from an immersive curriculum blending theory with real-world teaching opportunities, as well as unwavering support to passing both cycles of the California Teaching Performance Assessment.
Our two-semester program is where you’ll learn innovative and best-practice approaches for teaching art, literacy, math, social studies, and science, and then apply them in a student teaching placement. Develop strategies for English language learners, find your voice, and strategize your dream class scenarios.
Elementary school teachers lay the foundation for lifelong learning. With a Multiple Subject Credential, you'll be prepared to teach a variety of subjects to students in Pre-K through sixth grade, fostering curiosity and academic growth in diverse classrooms. Through expert mentorship and hands-on experience, you'll develop the skills to engage young learners, manage a dynamic classroom, and create inclusive educational spaces.
Beyond the classroom, you'll have access to professional development opportunities that set you apart. From EdShop workshops and statewide hiring fairs to interview prep and networking opportunities with the California Teachers Association Aspiring Educators (CTA-AE), you'll graduate with the confidence and connections to launch a successful teaching career.

Admission into programs leading to a credential does not guarantee that students will obtain a credential. Credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., Social Security number or taxpayer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet credentialing requirements.
Our credential analysts are here to help! For questions about the credential programs, please reach out by phone at 530-898-6455 or email to credentials@csuchico.edu.
The Multiple Subject Credential program is designed as a two-semester (one year) program where you will complete required coursework and internship credits. Students who need to complete pre-requisite courses may need additional time to complete the program.
