Transform your love for music into a creative career without limits. Our immersive program blends music theory and history with performance-based classes and groups in a professional setting, giving you a sound foundation from which to learn and hone your craft.
You’ll have the flexibility to forge your own path and focus on specific genres or instruments. Our graduates are ready to launch their careers on stage, in the studio, or in classrooms teaching the next generation of artists.
Guided by dedicated faculty, you’ll dive into music theory and history, while also gaining invaluable ear, instrument, and technical training. As a student in the major, you’ll perform in groups across our stages for a community that loves the arts.
A flexible program that lets you make music the center of your arts education. You will pursue multiple subjects and disciplines, ranging from jazz studies to keyboard, vocal, instrumental performance, composition, ethnomusicology, music history, and more.
Set yourself up for a career in music education for grades K-12 in this comprehensive, hands-on program. You’ll learn musicianship, conducting, and teaching skills in a variety of settings including general, elementary, choral, and instrumental.
With more than 240 clubs and organizations on campus, there is ample opportunity to exercise your knowledge in a fulfilling atmosphere.
You’ll frequently perform at our iconic venues on campus and across our community. Campus stages include the 1,200-seat Laxson Auditorium, 500-seat Harlen Adams Theatre, the Wismer Theatre, and the Recital Hall equipped with state-of-the-art recording capabilities and adjustable acoustics.
Connect with our community through music. Our established partnerships with the local school district mean you’ll work with local teachers in schools, giving back to K-12 students in the community while developing your skills as an educator.
Music major Phillip Drange and his family honor the tragic passing of Phillip’s twin brother, Aaron Drange, by working with the faculty of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts to establish the Aaron Drange Memorial Scholarship.
