If you are serious about a career in the performing arts, this is the place for you. Here, you can focus your studies on musical theatre performance—acting, singing, and dancing— while growing artistically and intellectually.
You’ll master the skills of collaboration, creativity, and confidence in the CSU’s only Musical Theatre BFA program north of Los Angeles. Whether your future includes professional theatre venues, touring companies, cruise ships, summer stock, or amusement parks, you’ll be prepared by our student-centered, experiential program. Take advantage of our highly trained professors and opportunities like industry workshops and our senior showcase to become your best self.
Expand your theatrical skills and academic acumen with our exciting mix of courses. You’ll build up your knowledge of the history, literature, and aesthetics of the art form, and practice your craft.
With your skills in interpreting text and commanding the attention of an audience, you’ll be ready for wherever the future takes you, whether you plan a career in acting, teaching, or practically anything else.
You will have numerous opportunities to apply what you are learning. You’ll track your progress through consistent training with student-centered faculty, and performances that take place throughout the year.
All our professors are active members of the Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance and trained in best practices with Theatrical Intimacy Education.
Thanks to seven semesters of private voice lessons and eight semesters of dance courses, you’ll see improvements in your abilities year after year.
Audition for four mainstage theatrical productions per year, produced in three different theaters—including the immaculate, 1,200-seat, Laxson Auditorium.
Find your niche and some great friends in the Theatre Arts Club, which prides itself on student-produced shows and festivals.
Travel to New York City your senior year and participate in a series of industry workshops and a senior showcase.
