Prepare for success in the field of nutrition and dietetics with our program. You will explore the important connections between food, sociology, and science, and learn how to translate the science of nutrition into practical ways to improve the health and wellness of your community.
You will learn how to communicate effectively with diverse communities, analyze and interpret data, and undertake research projects to help solve some of society’s most pressing health challenges. Our program is designed for individuals who want to expand their expertise in nutrition, wellness, and other health-related fields.
Our Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics-accredited curriculum is firmly based in chemistry, physiology, nutrition, dietetics, and food service management. You can take courses in nutritional management, vertebrate physiology, and nutrition communication and leadership.
Through your choice of three available options, you will gain confidence in conducting and analyzing research, and you will be prepared to become a competent, evidence-based nutrition professional and practitioner.
Our dietetics option is available to students admitted to the combined Master's and Dietetic Internship (DI) program. If you want to be eligible to sit for the registration exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), this is the path for you.
Gain a more fundamental understanding of how food and other substances affect the body and how they can help people live healthier lives. This pathway will prepare you for entry into a PhD program or for a career in research, teaching, or industry.
Work with individuals and groups in community or private settings to address health behaviors and promote good nutritional practices. Most of our students who complete this option become registered dietitians and find jobs in healthcare, state or federally funded programs, or education.
As the importance of nutrition in health becomes more apparent, professionals with a strong foundation in nutrition science are in high demand. Your MS degree can lead to careers in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, school food service programs, corporations, teaching, research, or private practice.
