Curious how science comes alive in the classroom? Whether you’re drawn to the Earth beneath your feet, the vastness of space, or anything in between, this program shows you how to transform scientific knowledge into dynamic, engaging learning experiences.
In the Science Education Minor, you’ll channel your passion for science into opportunities that spark curiosity, while building the skills to teach, communicate clearly, and connect with diverse learners. Whether you plan to pursue a teaching credential or simply strengthen your ability to share complex ideas, this minor prepares you for impactful work in K–12 education, museum curation, park and outdoor education, and community-based outreach.
Coursework blends foundational science content with hands-on teaching and community-based experiences. You’ll explore Earth and living systems alongside key concepts in physical, environmental, and space sciences—while learning how to inspire the next generation through science.
No matter your major—whether in STEM, education, or beyond—this minor sharpens your ability to think critically, communicate complex ideas with clarity, and spark curiosity through science.
Along the way, you’ll develop skills in:
The Science Education minor pairs well with specialized science majors, as well as majors focused on communication, education, and community engagement. Common pairings include:
