Peer-Plus Mentors

Peer-Plus Mentors are employed by the Adelante Program to support undergraduate students as they navigate their academic journey and prepare to envision their future as potential graduate students. Your vital experience and personal stories can empower them to create a

Peer-Plus Mentor will:
  • Be matched with a hub of 10-15 students based on major/minor or area of interest
  • Support your hub in Adelante’s sophomore-level 2-unit course by attending course lectures, workshops, and speaker events with your mentees
  • Offer weekly coaching by connecting with your mentees through email, phone calls, or text
  • Attend Adelante’s Mentor Orientation prior to Fall 2020 /Spring 2021 semester (Dates August 2020 /January 2021 TBD)
  • Attend Mandatory initial training at the beginning of the academic school year (Date in August TBD)
  • Participate in a one-hour weekly staff meeting with Student Success Coordinator to receive on-going training, support, and resources for your mentee hub
  • Track relevant student information regarding your mentee hub
  • Newly admitted or current graduate students enrolled at California State University, Chico in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a role model and assist undergraduate students with their academic journey and post-baccalaureate preparation.
  • Experience with Latinx and/or low-income college students is preferred
