Admissions Requirements: Transfer Students

Admissions requirements for domestic transfer students depend on whether you are seeking a lower-division or upper-division transfer.

Lower-Division Transfer 

Education

  • Fewer than 60 semester college units completed by the end of the fall or spring semester preceding transfer
  • Be in “good standing” at the last college or university attended

Academic Performance  

2.0 or greater GPA

Satisfy one of the following: 

  • Meet the first-time in college admission criteria in effect for the term for which the application is filed 
  • Eligible as a first-time in college applicant at the time of high school graduation and in continuous attendance at an accredited college since high school graduation
  • Had a qualifying high school GPA, has made up missing high school A–G subjects with a grade of C- or better in college, and in continuous attendance at an accredited college since high school graduation. 

Courses

Complete general education English Composition (1A) and Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning (2) with a grade of C- or better.

Upper-Division Transfer 

Education 

  • 60+ semester college units completed by the end of fall or spring semester preceding transfer   
  • Be in “good standing” at the last college or university attended

Academic Performance 

2.0 or greater GPA

Courses 

  • Complete 30 semester (45 quarter) units of general education
  • Complete English Composition (1A), Critical Thinking (1B), Oral Communication (1C), and Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning (2) with a grade of C- or better.
