Stupski Grant

In 2022, our campus was awarded a $30,000 grant from the Stupski Foundation to support advisor wellness and retention. The grant enactment committee utilized this funding to distribute the Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators to staff members within the broader advising community. The inventory was distributed for the first time in spring 2023 and a second time in fall 2023. Both rounds of results indicated that Chico State advisors are more personally invested in their work and feel more of a sense of personal accomplishment from their work than other professionals in the education field. However, results also indicated that our advisors experience more emotional exhaustion than other professionals in the education field. In response to these results, the grant enactment committee hosted two events for the Chico state advisor with the goal of building community for emotional support.

In 2023, Chico State was awarded a second grant of $20,000 from the Stupski Foundation to continue our efforts to support and retain academic advisors through the development of a multi-tiered training and professional development program. The team is currently working to develop the first tier of the training program with goals of launching the program in CSULearn in spring 2025.
