Alyssa is a native of the foothills of Amador County. She attended San Joaquin Delta Junior College prior to transferring to California State University, Chico. From supervising various Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects to serving as a FFA advisor for a 500-member FFA chapter to coaching state and national champion FFA Career Development Event (CDE) and Leadership Development (LDE) teams, Alyssa ardently shares her expertise with agricultural education students in the College of Agriculture.

Alyssa is a member of California Agriculture Teacher’s Association (CATA), California Women for Agriculture (CWA), American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE), and North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA). She was awarded the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom Vocational Teacher of the Year, California Association FFA Star Advisor, and the College of Agriculture Faculty of the Year.

Alyssa, her husband Wes, and their two sons live in Orland where they raise beef cattle and grow walnut trees. When away from the university and ranch, the Schager family can be found at a baseball diamond or cattle show.
