Randall and Daisy Finch

Randal and Daisy Finch are lifelong residents of Glenn County. Randal was born on the banks of Stony Creek. Daisy was born in Kirkwood in Tehama Country. Randal and his brother Irving started farming in the mid 30’s with 78 acres of irrigated land. Over the next 40+ years their operation expanded to more than 3500 acres most of which was irrigated.

Randal was one of the true visionaries who saw that the future of agriculture in the north state depended upon reliable water sources. He was a member of the original Sacramento Valley Canals Association formed in 1950 to seek construction of the Tehama-Colusa Canal. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Orland-Artois Water District which began deliveries in 1981.

Randal and Daisy have been real friends of the agriculture program at CSU, Chico. Randal Served on the original advisory committee that began the program in the 1950’s during the presidency of Dr. Glenn Kendall.

Daisy played an active role in operations of Finch Ranch. She has always been an avid gardener. For many years she maintained an extensive flower garden. One of her favorite activities was developing new varieties and types of Day Lilies and Irises
