Plant Sale at the University Farm

Announced on: Tuesday, Apr. 09, 2019

California State University, Chico’s annual spring plant sale at the University Farm will kick off with Wildcat Day on the Farm on Friday, April 19. The public plant sale dates have been extended to include Thursdays and Fridays through the end of May. The hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Plants available for sale include organic vegetable and herb starts, annual and perennial flowers, and trees. Most of the plants were grown at the University Farm greenhouses in collaboration with the Chico State Organic Vegetable Project, the Crop Science and Horticulture Club, and numerous classes offered through the College of Agriculture. Greenhouse technician Matt Housley said when the public buys plants from the University Farm, they are supporting students’ education in plant science and nursery production.

“We have more and more students with an interest in plant science, and growing vegetable starts is a great way to give them hands-on experience and see pretty immediate results,” he said.

The University Farm is located at 311 Nicholas C. Schouten Lane in Chico. For more information, contact Matt Housley at 530-898-6023 or by email at
