Annual Plant Sale Hosted at University Farm

Student waters flats of brightly colored flowersWith spring gardening season just around the corner, California State University, Chico’s annual spring plant sale at the University Farm will kick off Friday, April 2, and will run for the following three weekends. The sale at the University Farm greenhouse is open to the public and will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April 2–18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Organic vegetable and herb starts, annual and perennial flowers, and trees will be available for purchase. Most of the plants were grown at the University Farm greenhouses in collaboration with the Chico State Organic Vegetable Project, the Crop Science and Horticulture Club, and numerous classes offered through the College of Agriculture. Income from plant sales directly provides support for hands-on opportunities in plant science and nursery production.

In keeping with guidance from Butte County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all visitors are asked to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Anyone who is feeling ill should stay home.
  • Vulnerable (high-risk) individuals should continue to follow the State’s Stay-at-Home Order.
  • Wear face coverings.
  • Maintain at least six feet of physical distance from others.
  • Maintain good hygiene by washing hands, using hand sanitizer, and covering coughs and sneezes.
