University Farm Open House

On October 8, more than 200 guests visited the University Farm for Chico State’s Alumni and Family Homecoming Weekend Open House. Ag Ambassadors provided tractor tours, and student employees offered in-depth tours of their respective units, including  Swine, Beef, Dairy, Organic Vegetable Project, Meats Lab, and Sheep. The Crops and Horticulture Unit displayed a variety of agricultural tractors and implements for guest to learn more about.

There were about 30 total tours given, with 5-10 guests per ride. The guests ranged from community members to parents to current students. Ryann Vierra, a double major in agricultural business and education, was one of the tour guides for the open house. 

“It was such a great experience being able to advocate for the College of Ag while simultaneously spreading the importance and impact of agriculture,” Vierra said.
