Presenter: Dr. Ryan Patten, Interim Dean, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences 

Ryan Patten

Dr. Ryan Patten earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. His research interests include campus policing, guns on college campuses, and fish and wildlife policing. He has also been a visiting professor at La Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid (2010) and Leuphana Universityät Lüneburg (2015). Dr Patten is Associate Dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences where he oversees college assessment, curriculum, faculty development, and student advising. As Associate Dean he also serves in an advisory and support capacity to the Dean in all matters and assisted with presentations and general college operations as the need arises. From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Patten served as the coordinator of the Criminal Justice Program, and from 2014 to 2015, he was department chair of the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice. In 2017, Dr. Patten was a Fellow with the American Council on Education and worked with President G.H. Javaheripour at Yuba College.

George Parrott received his undergraduate degree in 1965 from Chico State then went on to earn his MA in 1967 and PhD in Psychology in 1969 from Michigan State University under Donald M. Johnson, Cognitive and Social Psychology with emphasis on research methods.  He taught at Sacramento State for over 40 years and at Universities in England, Australia and Poland as a Fulbright visiting scholar. Parrott was twice honored as “outstanding teacher” at Sacramento State. Today he continues his relationship with the Department of Psychology at Chico State by supporting students as they begin their graduate studies through his generous awards.
