Chico State Women’s Philanthropy Council presents an Evening with Women in Agriculture. Please join us for a discussion with Dr. Cynthia Daley and a dynamic group of our Chico State alumnae working in agriculture.

Meet the panel
Dr. Cynthia Daley, Moderator
Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems
Dr. Cynthia Daley is a professor within the College of Agriculture at California State University, Chico and currently serves as the Rawlins Endowed Professor for Environmental Literacy, and the director for the Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems.
Shannon Douglass ’05, ‘12
California Farm Bureau Federation
Shannon Douglass was elected first vice president of the California Farm Bureau Federation in December 2017 and was re-elected in 2019. She is the director of the Glen County Farm Bureau and former chair of the CFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers State Committee. Her ranch, Douglass Ranch, raises beef cattle, sunflowers, pumpkins, corn and forage crops. In addition, Shannon founded CalAgJobs, an online listing of employment opportunities in California Agriculture. Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 2005 and a master’s degree in agricultural policy in 2012 from Chico State.
Christy Jenner Bartneck, ‘05
Jenner Family Beef
Christy Jenner Bartneck lives and works at Jenner Family Beef, a sixth-generation cattle ranch that she grew up on. She graduated from Chico State in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology and initially relocated to the Bay Area, where her primary career was working for a large retail development company in the marketing department. The invaluable corporate skill set was a great foundation that has led her into the successful entrepreneur she is today.
Tricia Laustalot, ‘99
Jenner Family Beef
Tricia Laustalot was raised on a commercial cattle ranch in Etna, CA. In 1999, she graduated from Chico State with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and a minor in Accounting, then became a CPA in 2002. Later, she switched to private industry as the CFO for both Advanced Helicopter Services and Cascade Helicopter Services, where she continues to work today. In partnership with the women in her family, she began Jenner Family Beef, a direct to consumer arm of the Jenner Cattle Company. In 2016, she launched Denny Bar Company Distillery, a restaurant and bar in Etna.
America Garman ‘97
Bell-Carter Foods
America was introduced to Agribusiness in high school where she took a class that taught her to trade pork bellies in the futures market, leading her to join FFA and raise and sell livestock for pay for college. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business in 1997 and her MBA in 2004, both from Chico State. She joined the team at Bell-Carter foods in 1998 and has worked there for 22 years, working her way up to the senior leadership team as Director of Supply Chain.
