Need Help with Motivation for Physical Activity? Sign up for Physical Activity Counseling

Announced on: Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025

If you've ever struggled to be motivated for consistent physical activity or exercise, this is an opportunity for you! I'm an associate professor in the Kinesiology department. I'm teaching a class this semester about Exercise Behavior & Adherence. This is an upper division class for students to learn about the psychology behind consistent physical activity for life. We are hoping to give CSU Chico students in the class a great experience with real-life issues and concerns surrounding physical activity and exercise. We are seeking adults who would be willing to meet with a student for a one-on-one counseling session (not an exercise session) via zoom or in person at least two times between mid-March and May 9. You will be discussing your motivation (or lack thereof), barriers, and reasons for change.

If you feel stuck repeating the same unhelpful behaviors or cycles of physical inactivity, this is the opportunity for you!

We are not taking the Biggest Loser approach (screaming in your face) or even promoting hard core, intense workouts!

We are promoting lifelong physical activity patterns.

The ideal candidate for this counseling is someone who wants to be better at consistently incorporating physical activity into their lives. This includes people who are not currently doing any physical activity to people who are in a cycle of regular exercise then doing nothing at all. It's a great opportunity to make some progress on physical activity goals and to talk through some of the challenges people encounter. To enroll complete this form:

There are limited spaces so don't wait to sign up! The deadline is March 10th!
