March 6th, Thursday., 1 – 2pm

SCI 244 (NEW LOCATION)

Hydrologic Fluxes Drive Biogeochemical Shifts in a Coastal Wetland

Dr. Emilio Grande, CSU, East Bay

Assistant Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences

Dr. Grande has a PhD in Earth science from the University of California Santa Cruz and teaches hydrology and global change courses. His research focuses on understanding how precipitation becomes runoff. The pathways water takes through landscapes, the biogeochemical implications of these pathways from headwater catchments to the coastal ocean, and the residence time of water as it moves through the subsurface. He integrates field and quantitative analyses to investigate rainfall-runoff relationships and surface water-groundwater exchanges across various spatial and temporal scales and environmental settings. He uses integrated knowledge from several disciplines to address the numerous challenges at the terrestrial-aquatic interface.
